Game 71, Colorado Avalanche Vs. Los Angeles Kings
March 22nd, The Kings win in overtime
The Kings look to increase their 1 point lead over the Avalanche in the standings. 7:14 Chris Stewart shoots a puck wide, but it gets tipped in my a Kings defenseman. 2 minutes later Ryan Smyth ties the score at 1 with a tip off of Jarret Stoll’s shot. 15 minutes into the 2nd, Wayne Simmonds gets a backhand goal from a semi wraparound. Early in the 3rd, Peter Mueller gets a 2 on 1 wrist shot of the post and in, 2-2. 5 minutes later Ryan Smyth get his 2nd goal of the game with a wrap around, 3-2 Kings lead. With seconds remaining in the 3rd, the Avalanche pull their goalie and T.J. Galiardi scores, tying the game at 3. 3:40 in overtime, Drew Doughty fires a rocket directly under the crossbar, giving the Kings a 4-3 win, and Doughty his first overtime goal in his career. The Kings recover for their rubber match on Wednesday.
