The Los Angeles Kings headed back home for game 3 with a 2-0 series lead over the Phoenix Coyotes. Daymond Langkow started the game off 1:03 into the 2nd period, somehow squeaking a shot through the 5 hole of Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick, 1-0 Coyotes. The Kings continued to battle, and about 2 minutes later, Anze Kopitar scored on a breakaway, bringing the game to 1-1. At the 1:47 mark of the 3rd period, Dwight King scored with a shot from the circle, which gave the Kings a 2-1 lead. The Kings managed to hold on and beat the Coyotes 2-1, bringing the series to 3-0. The Kings hoped to defeat the Coyotes in game 4 on Sunday to avoid a trip to Phoenix for game 5.
