Kings fired up after their recent victory against the Calgary Flames. Teddy Purcell starts the Kings off at 6:12 during a power play, with a lot of traffic in front of the net a post in shot. 11:22 Joe Pavelski scores on a 2 on 1, 1-1 tie. Just before the 1st intermission, Patrick Marleau scores from a scrum in front of the net, 2-1 Sharks lead. Kings go to the locker room upset and ready to hop on the Sharks early in the 2nd. Kings come out hard in the 2nd and at 1:32 Jarret Stoll takes a shot from Johnson and deflects it to wide open twine, the Kings tie the score at 2. 5:43 Anze Kopitar has a give-n-go opportunity and gets one back on the board, 3-2 Kings lead. Drew Doughty gets an assurance goal at 8:32 to increase the Kings lead by 2, 4-2 Kings. The Sharks don’t want to stand back and watch anymore so Dan Boyle at 12:38 shoots on a 2 on 1 and scores on Ersberg, 4-3 Kings lead by a hair. With 7:41 remaining in the 3rd Mandy Malhotra catches Ersberg’s attention with a quick snapshot from the point, 4-4 tie. With the game over, overtime follows, The Kings fight for their pride and the Sharks fight for their #1 spot in the division. Early in overtime Dustin Brown gets the chance, shoots and gets his first goal in 15 games, congratulations to the Kings and let’s hope they play great against the Phoenix Coyotes Thursday.
