The Los Angeles Kings hoped to dominate the Colorado Avalanche on the road. However, just 7:04 into the 1st, Mark Olver scored on a one timer from the slot, giving the Avalanche a 1-0 lead. The Avalanche kept it going, and 13 minutes into the 1st, Paul Stastny scored with a wrap around, 2-0 Avalanche. Just over 5 minutes later, a 3 on 2 results in a redirection by Jay McClement, giving the Avalanche a 3-0 lead heading into the 2nd period. At the 12:45 mark of the 2nd period, Stastny scored another goal, 4-0 Avalanche. Finally, 5 minutes into the 3rd, Drew Doughty scored the Kings first, but it was too little too late and Colorado won by a final score of 4-1.
