The Kings traveled to Canada, to the new organization, the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets moved from the Atlanta and were formally known as the Thrashers. The Thrashers moved to Winnipeg in hopes of increasing revenues, a move that has turned out to be a good move so far, but how will the new team perform? The Los Angeles Kings and the Jets continued back and forth with scoring opportunities, but regulation play ended with a 0-0 score and the game headed into overtime. In overtime, Evander Kane scored as he pounced on a rebound off of Kings goaltender Jonathan Bernier 1:09 into the extra play, giving the Jets a 1-0 win over the Kings. The Kings had to settle for one point in the standings.
“We played two games in less than a day – get in here at 2:30 in the
morning and we take three of four points,” Kings coach Darryl Sutter said. “Better to
look at it like that, right?”
