Game 53, Los Angeles Kings Vs. New Jersey Devils
Jan 31st, the Kings overcome the Devils, and the feared Martin Brodeur
The Kings going on an amazing five game winning streak attempt to get a six game winning streak against the feared, New Jersey Devils. Early in the 1st Johnny Oduya shoots down the Kings chemistry, as well as getting the Devils an early one goal lead. The Kings play hard in the first but can’t score on Brodeur. Travis Zajac gets the Devils a two goal lead early in the 2nd, nearly the same as the first goal, 2-0 Devils. The Kings chances of beating the Devils look slim, but with a little effort anything is possible. Late in the 2nd Michael Handzus sneaks one past Martin Brodeur, pulling the Kings back into a one goal game. 18:14 in the 3rd, Wayne Simmonds, scores with a sharp angled goal, the game is tied at 2. With less than two minutes remaining it is expected to go into overtime… But with 28 seconds remaining the amazing Drew Doughty gets a powerplay goal! This leaves the Devils in a tough position, a 3-2 win over the Devils the Kings will continue onto New York to play the Rangers on the 2nd.
