Game 54, Los Angeles Kings Vs. New York Rangers
February 2nd, the Kings look to extend their 6 game winning streak
The Kings have beaten a number of fierce teams in the past week, including the New Jersey Devils and the Detroit Red Wings, but how about the New York Rangers? Late in the 2nd, Anze Kopitar gets a shorthanded goal which gives the Kings a needed one goal lead. A goal by Ryan Smyth halfway through the 3rd, off the post and in, gives the Kings a 2-0 lead over the Rangers, but will they hold the lead? Marian Gaborik gets the Rangers on the board at 17:23 in the 3rd, with a nice deflection past goaltender Jonathan Quick, the Kings manage to hold the lead for the rest of the 3rd and increase their winning streak to 7! Congratulations to the Kings and the organization for leading the Kings to 4th place in the 6th position in the entire NHL.
