The Los Angeles Kings prepared to face the Detroit Red Wings once again, hoping for payback after losing 4-3 to the Wings just four days ago. Just 6:48 into the game, Justin Williams scored by jamming the puck into the net, giving the Kings a 1-0 lead. At the 13:15 mark of the 1st period, Anze Kopitar scored a short handed goal with a wrist shot that hit the post and caromed into the net, 2-0 Kings. At the 4:06 mark of the 2nd period, the Red Wings scored their first goal when Jiri Hudler connected on a one-timer, 2-1 Kings. At the 10:57 mark of the 2nd period, Drew Doughty scored with a shot from the point, giving the Kings a 3-1 lead. Then, at the 8:23 mark of the 3rd, Slava Voynov scored on a rebound, 4-1 Kings. Johan Frazen scored on a rebound 13:30 into the final period, 4-2 Kings. With 21 seconds remaining in the game, Jeff Carter shot the puck down the ice, and scored on the empty net, giving the Kings a 5-2 win.
