The Thunder lost the 2013-2014 MVP to a foot injury that will sideline him for a minimum of 8 weeks. This is a gruesome setback to the Thunder high hope season. The Thunder season is not gone however. They have 2 top 25 players in this league without Kevin Durant. Westbrook and Ibaka will have to carry this team while Durant is sidelined. Russell Westbrook is going to need to have an MVP caliber year if the Thunder want to stay in the playoff hunt in the wild west. I expect the Thunder to still be a above average team without Durant however don’t expect them to be above 4th in the West without Durant. Look for teams such as the Clippers, Spurs, Rockets, Trailblazers, Warriors , and Mavericks to have better records than the Durant-less Thunder while OKC will work back to the top come Durant’s return. The Thunder will have their biggest test on opening night vs. the Los Angeles Clippers and we’ll get a better glance and understandment how the Thunder will look without their superstar.
