I was watching Reggie Jackson exactly a week ago from today when he faced the Lakers in L.A. Lets compare stats from that game to this one shall we. Verse the Lakers a week ago from today he finished with 2 points, 3 assists, 5 turnovers on 1-9 shooting against the worst defense in the NBA. Lets fast forward to present day where he faced a furious Memphis defense, Jackson finished with 23 points shooting 10-18 from the field while dishing out 18 assists to go along with a workable 2 turnovers propelling his Pistons to upset the number 2 seed in the West Grizzlies. Just a minor difference in the two stat lines above right? Jackson is a very non consistent player in this league, while i don’t think he is starting material. Yet. The Grizzlies were without Mike Conley while the Pistons were without Greg Monroe and obviously Brandon Jennings who is sidelined for the year. The Pistons backcourt outscored the Grizzlies backcourt by 32 points and 19 assists. That will usually be the key to success in many cases, and it sure was for Detroit tonight. The Pistons improve to 24-43 on their lost season while the Grizzlies fall to 47-21 just 1.5 games up on Portland for that second seed in the wild wild west. The Grizzlies will hit the road to face the Mavericks in a western conference showdown in Texas on Friday night, while the Pistons will hit the road as well to face the horrid 76ers in a very winnable game tomorrow night.
