The clippers hosted the dazzling Miami Heat, thursday night and was nationally televised on TNT. Good thing it was nationally televised because it possibly could be the game of the season. It was filled with action, shock, close calls, that all led to a marvelous game. We knew coming in this would be a great game but both teams definitely lived up to the hype. You had potentially 5-6 all stars on the court at all times. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Chris Bosh, De Andre Jordan, Chauncey Billups who are all on the All-Star ballot and going strong with their votes. This was a home game for the Clippers and a big one because they play the Heat just once this season and chris Paul and company wanted to prove a point; a big point. Simply being- we are a winning team now and we are not the Clippers you are used to seeing. Chris Paul lived up to all the hype, recording astonishing numbers, 27 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds, 3 steals and just one turnover. Thats what i call efficient. We all knew the heat would have trouble stopping the Clippers new star because the heat lack depth and at that point guard position. yet they don’t at their 2,3, and 4. Wade, Lebron, and Bosh played just alright. Wade made some unbelievable hustle plays down the stretch but that wasn’t enough to save lebron’s recent fourth quarter woes. Im not going to hate on Lebron James, but if you call this man the best player in the NBA it would be a lie. This man is a monster but when the fourth quarter rolls around he’s more like a flake. I don’t get it and many others as well. He has the talent no question. He has the body no question. He has the skill set no question. So the real question is where does this all go when we see the gam eon the line during the final quarter of regulation. Its a question that remains and will remain until he proves a point and don’t expect that to happen any time soon because theres always going to be controversy on the Heat come fourth quarter. Theres three players, and one ball. Who gets it? Thursday night was a great example. The Clippers were up 2 points late and the heat were in need of a hoop. Who do you go to? the hot hand? The one who has hit 2 game winners this year already? The better matchup? Well the heat went to the hot hand which was lebron and umm yea that didn’t work out to well because oh yea its the fourth quarter. Who people call the best player in the NBA went 9-17 from the free throw line. Is that a joke? No its real. 8 missed free throws. Really? All he had to do was be average and knock down 13 out of 17 which is still not great for a star and the Heat would of escaped with a W. Yet that didn’t happen because they put the ball in his hands and he went 1-2 two times so instead of being up two the game was tied and the heat would go to overtime back to back nights. The Heat would end of losing the game because of their free throw woes and also lost their coach who got ejected with under a minute remaining for arguing. The Clippers escaped with a great win against a elite NBA team by 6 points in overtime. This game was full of drama from tip to final horn. I have to say it was the game of the year so far. I would have to think i and everybody know what the Heat will be doing tomorrow. FREE THROWS!
