The Los Angeles Kings prepared to face the Phoenix Coyotes at Staples Center for the first time since the 1st of February against the Columbus Blue Jackets. They started out well, as just 4:37 into the 1st period; Dustin Brown and Shane Doan dropped the gloves after a bone crushing hit by Brown. With a fierce game continuing, Mike Richards and Martin Hanzal followed along and dropped the gloves. Another fight erupted two minutes later between Raffi Torres and Colin Fraser. The Phoenix Coyotes continued to battle, and Radim Vrbata scored to give Phoenix a 1-0 lead. With a total of 64 penalty minutes, the game was physical; unfortunately Phoenix was able to score a goal which gave them the hard fought 1-0 win.
