The Los Angeles Kings hope to get a second straight win on the road to start the season as they face the Buffalo Sabres in Berlin, Germany at the O2 arena. The first period was scoreless, both teams on edge looking to score in the 2nd period. But less than 3 minutes into the 2nd, Luke Adam scored a five hole shot on Jonathan Bernier on a delayed penalty. Less than 3 minutes later, Adam scored another goal from the middle, increasing the Sabres lead to two. The Sabres were not done as at 13:19 of the 2nd period, Paul Gaustad scored on an amazing tip-in. This gave the Buffalo Sabres a 3 goal comfort zone. But, with less than a minute left in the 2nd period, Anze Kopitar scored on a slap shot from the point, a power play goal. The Sabres come out hard in the 3rd period and Drew Stafford scored a power play goal 4 minutes into the final period. The Kings wouldn’t go down without a fight and with 5 minutes remaining in the 3rd period, Anze Kopitar scored a beautiful goal to bring the Kings to a 4-2 final. The Kings head back to the east coast to take a short break and prepare to face New Jersey on Thursday the 13th to face the Devils.
