This is an interesting topic that needs to be addressed. This topic is interesting because lets face it, J.R. when right is an all star in the making. This guy can shoot the lights out, has all the athleticism in the world, and can play defense if he chooses so. J.R. is getting pursued and looked at from all contenders in the West as well as the East. He can return to action in the NBA around All Star weekend. Ill tell you this, there will be a lot of action going on that weekend from the game itself to Dwight Howard sweepstakes to J.R Smith’s return to action. It should be fun. Ive heard form many sources that the Lakers and CLippers are interested in boosting their backcourt off the bench. He would fit well with the Clippers, and would be a nice addition to Kobe as well. I think the Lakers need him more because they need another scorer, period explanation point. If they say they have enough without a guy like J.R. their wrong. Your not going to win with the team you have. It just wont be enough. Kobe has been playing around 40 minutes a game for a team with a 14-10 record is stupid. We all know they’ll make the playoffs but will Kobe be tired out? Question remains unknown and J.R is the answer to that question. He can take a load of Kobe’s back with putting points on the board. J.R. is a proven 20 point scorer if the minutes are their. On the other hand, the Clippers who are full of scorers and great pieces would like help behind Caron Butler at the three spot. Something that the Clippers have that not many teams have is the ability of your star to have 2 points and for your team to win by 26. Chris Paul had 2 points, didn’t shoot much but still had 2 points. Yet the Clippers blow the Wizards out in Washington. The Clippers are balanced on offense. They have so many threats, but it wouldn’t hurt to add one more especially off the bench. The reason why the Clippers need him is because at times their bench blows leads because their lack of offense. You only have one offensive player out their, which is Mo williams but the addition of Kenyon Martin will help as well as if they pursue Smith. If it was Smith’s choice, i have to say he would rather play for the Clippers because the Clippers have pieces that compliment J.R better than other teams. And J.R. is great friends with Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin who were teammates with each other two years ago. Like i said, the Clippers compliment J.R. better because the Clippers have something that not many teams have. Which is Chris Paul who is so unselfish and always looking for teammates before himself which is what a guy like J.R. wants. Chris does a lot of work so you can have an open shot. On the other hand, the Lakers don’t have any passing point guards who draw attention, so J.R would have to create his own shot which is difficult to do when you have a good defender on you.

The Nuggets are done seeing and playing L.A teams. I believe 3 out of their 4 games this weak has been viruses Clippers or Lakers. Their 1-2. The Lakers picked up a very rare road win against a deep Denver team. I believe the Lakers won because they established their 7 footers early and they did not disappoint. Andrew 9 out of the Lakers first 11 points. Andrew Bynum established himself early with great position and give the guards credit for seeing the big fella work down low. They gave him the ball and i don’t get why they don’t more. He’s such a presence not 1 guy can guard him except Dwight Howard. Denver has a big lineup, with two 7 footers like the Lakers in their starting lineup. But Denver couldn’t stop Andrew. They threw double and triple teams throughout the second half which slowed Andrew down significantly but Andrew did a great job finding the open man for the jump shot. Kobe had just 1 point going into the third quarter, but i would have bet money he wouldn’t have finished with more than 20. He had 20. But shot an ugly 7-23 from the field. Meanwhile Andrew kept the Lakers in it. Andrew shot 13 shots and converted on 10 of them. Scoring 22 and grabbing 10 rebounds. The rebounds were finding Pau’s hands in this one though. He pulled down a season high 17. Lakers got a rare road win and look to grind out another one tonight vs. the Utah Jazz.

This is an interesting topic. Now that were a third of the way through the season, we have a good idea of who are your contenders, playoff teams, and busts. Words to describe a MVP consist of- Hard Working, Trusting, winning, mentally strong, and leader. These are powerful words and thats why you can only throw about 5 players into the list. Right now as we speak, my top 5 are this.

1. Derrick Rose- Team is in first. Amazing speed and athleticism. Leader. Team is winning. Number one on the list.

2. Lebron James- Team is in 2nd place. All around great player. Can defend any position. Leads his team. Team is winning.

3. Kevin Durant- Best record in West. Putting up hall of fame numbers. Leader. Trusting. Comes through in the clutch.

4. Chris Paul- Team is in third in West. Top point guard. Franchise player. Gets his teammates involved. Clutch.

5. Andre Igulodala- 76ers in third place. 4.5 above Boston in division. Averaging close to a triple double. Leader.

The West is known for being the more Brutal of the two conferences and last year they proved that theory with a five point win over the bottomless pit of youth and athleticism we call the Eastern Conference all stars. In this battle were age triumphed over youth Kobe Bryant shined, with 37 points and 14 rebounds and a few breathtaking dunks Kobe showed everybody that he still has it. This year though youth has taken over! I mean just look at the Western Conference starters. Blake Griffin the 22 year old freak of nature gets the starting nod in just his sophomore year! Everybody should remember that he will still play in the rookie game, and I expect him to put on a clinic against the talent drained rookies. Yet I still believe Blake should be a starter, the all star game is primarily for the fans and the fans love this guy. Many people say that “Kevin Love should have been in the starting lineup,” and “NBA fans shouldn’t be allowed to vote,” but I don’t know about you guys but I would much rather see Blake jump out of the building with Kobe, Bynum, and Durant catching lobs from cp3 than Kevin Love grabbing some rebounds. All in all I have no complaints about the Western Conference starters, but i hope that Deandre Jordan is a reserve behind Bynum. The Eastern Conference were a pretty easy guess, all the players are by far the best at their position and deserve the starting nod.

This year i expect the East to come out ready to win, after the disappointing loss last year. On the other hand I expect the West to come out just as flashy or more than the East did last year, but with the competitive drive of the man named Bryant it should be a good game. In the end I expect the West win, with only one exception and that has to do with Melo. Carmelo Anthony has to share the ball, this game isn’t about him it is about watching a good game of basketball. If Melo shares the ball and only takes good shots the East will dominate and LeBron will take home M.V.P honors. If the West win though I expect Blake to be the M.V.P because you know that’s his goal and everything will be centered around him.

The Clippers were simply outplayed by the deep Nuggets at Staples Thursday night. Denver is deep, no question. Clippers are not, no question. Clippers ran out to a marvelous first quarter but then was all downhill from their. The Clips jumped out to a early 13 point cushion in the first quarter but everyone knows that being up 13 in the first quarter is nothing and will most likely lose the lead before halftime. Your bench is supposed to keep a lead or expand if its a good bench. Clippers have an awful bench while the Nuggets may have arguebale the best in the league. Now, all you Denver fans should listen to this stat and fact im about to give you. Clippers fan will hate it. Here it goes- The Nuggets outscored the Clippers 67-35 in quarters 2 and 3. Thats simply unacceptable for L.A. The Clippers scored 32 in the first quarter. And then 35 combined for quarters 2 and 3. Not cool. Give credit to Denver’s bench and starters for their defense which led to their easy offense. The Nuggets got Danillo Gallinari back, not from injury but shooting poorly. He shot just 1-10 vs. Memphis. The Clips are probly wishing he did that to themselves. But he did the opposite. Hitting 7-10 shots. 5-5 from downtown and had 21 points in limited minutes. Yes the Clippers had the dunks for the Nuggets had the W.

The answer is no. Im a huge clipper fan and supporter but lets be realistic, they have one of the best if not the best starting 5 but their bench needs work. Don’t get me wrong, lots of teams have this problem including every team but deep teams which consist of the 76ers, Nuggets, Pacers, Heat, and Dallas. And those teams will have successful seasons because its a short long season. Meaning, Short time frame for many games to be played in. The Clippers have a great starting five including two superstars, a leader, a show case player, and another flat out scorer. Two superstars- Griffin and Paul. Leader- Billups. Showcase- De Andre Jordan. Scorer- Caron Butler. And they have a great piece coming off the bench in Mo Williams, but after Mo it can go anywhere from Randy Foye to Solomon Jones. If you call yourself a contender solomon jones cant be your first big off the bench. The clippers have shown interest In Kenyon Martin who would fit this team marvelously. He is a proven big man, who can defend, score, and change possessions with hustle. I am very sure, he will end up in L.A. Reasons being this 1) simply put its L.A, upgrade from china or denver. 2) His great friend Chauncey Billups is here and has reached out to Martin to sign in L.A. 3) You get to play with the number one point guard in the league in chris Paul. 4) Lastly and maybe the most important one is this, the Clippers are like family and veterans who float around the league want to be somewhere where they feel good and feel home. Thats why you don’t see proven veterans go to teams like the Bob cats and Raptors. They want to be at home with their teammates while contending for the ultimate prize which is the trophy. Throw in a guy like Martin and i would think you have to put the Clippers in the top 5 teams in the League.

This is a tough question and believe theres more than one. I think my top five, are the Clippers, Timberwolves, Magic, Pacers, and Jazz. You could throw in the 76ers in their as well. The question is how do you judge or base your rankings on to answer the question. Well, i based it on the teams you have beat, and your record and improvement from last year. Lets start with the West. The Clippers have lived up to the hype and look like a strong contender. Quality wins include-Lakers, Heat, Mavericks, Rockets, Portland, and Warriors. Next team is the Timberwolves. Their record isn’t great but boy has Adelemn done a great job their. Quality wins- Clippers, Mavericks, and Spurs but they have had a lot of tough losses. They lost to Heat, Bucks, Thunder, and Grizzlies by a combined 13 points. Their record doesn’t say who they are. Be ready for a fight when you play them. The Jazz have been amazing. Its been a bunch of good players playing great together. Quality wins- Nuggets, Clippers, Warriors. Now to the east. The Magic have avoided all trade talk and have put themselves in a tie for third place with the 76ers. They have beat the Lakers, Blazers, Warriors, Pacers, and Rockets. And lastly the Pacers. This team didn’t make any huge movements but did have some great upgrades at their power forward and their guard spot position. They signed david West and traded for George Hill and i think they got the better end of the deal. They sent their first pick Leonard to San Antonio for Greg Popovichs favorite player. I can see why he is his favorite player because the guy works hard on both ends of the floor mainly defense. And if the Pacers want to move on in the play offs, their going to have to go through the Heat or Celtics and now they have a defense stopper who can play wade and Lebron and Pierce and Allen.

I think their more than for real. They have proven and made a statement to the NBA to don’t come in our house and expect to win or blow us out anymore. BOth of these teams are very similar. I think their the only two teams that have not one all star but a crap load of weapons that can hurt you from all over. And the Nuggets. But were talking about these two teams for now. The 76ers have 8 players that average 10 or more. And their leading scorer comes off their bench. Very impressive. I always believed it was better to be balanced everywhere and 8-10 deep than to have 2 stars and the rest suck. Just look at the Knicks. Melo, Amare, and Chandler and then the rest are whatever. And look at their record, its awful. The 76ers have 7 guys scoring 10 or more and jodie Meeks is averaging 9.2 so well say he’s near 10. So thats 8 players. And i think their similar to the Pacers because them too don’t have a star but are very balanced with 7 players averaging 10 or more. Granger is their leader but its a different person every night. The Pacers have shown signs of major improvement by beating the Celtics in Boston. Thats tough and they got a solid win their and beat the Lakers in L.A. I think the Pacers have had more quality wins by beating better teams but i think the 76ers are better. You cant help off anyone on either team because the next person will hurt you and is a threat unlike many teams in the League. Teams double Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Durant because theirs always that one player who doesn’t have confidence and isn’t a threat. From the beginning i have thought both teams will finish top 5 in the East, and i keep that and think its possible.
