Derrick Rose tore his ACL and MCL in game 1 vs. the Philadelphia 76ers. Derrick Rose was the former MVP and was cut short of this season and now playoffs. Derrick has been injury prone throughout the year and now will sit out quite some time now. Its really too bad because the bulls were a legitimate title contender and were many people’s favorite with Derrick Rose running the show. BUT, DRose is gone therefore you might be able to win your first round matchup with the 76ers, but after that you can forget about it. NO MVP, NO BULLS.

Lakers took game 1 easily from the Denver Nuggets. The story was Andrew Bynum. The Lakers star Big man had his first triple double recording 10 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 blocks. While Bynum was the story for the Lakers, they made sure they took care of business. They crushed the Nuggets on their home floor. Every Laker scored in double figures while having Jordan Hill and Steve Black chipped in for 19 points combined. The Lakers looked sharp while Denver looked awful.

The Clippers pulled off something i’ve never seen nor don’t think i will see again. The Clippers were down 27 points midway through the third quarter and pulled off a shocker in Memphis beating the Grizzlies by 1. There were 5 guys in particular who helped the greatest comeback in history. Nick Young, Reggie Evans, Eric Bledsoe, Kenyon Martin, and Chauncey Billups. Nick Young had 19 points hitting three 3′s down the stretch. Bledsoe and Evans brought bunches of energy that sparked the rally, while Chris ran the rally. I throw in Chauncey Billups because he kept telling his teammates to not give up and to keep fighting. His leadership off the court was vital tonight. The Clippers rallied from 21 points in the first quarter which ties history. I never seen anything like it in my life. It truly was amazing. This game takes home back for the Clips which is huge.

The Jazz made what some thought impossible possible. The Jazz were without their best player, and unfortunately for them, if they needed him one night in the season; it would be this night. The Lakers throw two 7 footers on their front line while the Jazz were without Jefferson. The Jazz throw a 6-7 millsap and a 6-10 favors on their front line. If you said the Lakers would be playing at home vs. the Jazz without Al Jefferson and pesty Raja Bell, who would win? Lakers no question’s asked. I mean, going into this game they had the best home record in the league and their playing a team with no hope of making the playoffs this year and somehow the Jazz pull it out. The Jazz can thank their rookies. The rookies shot 13-17 from the field scoring 17 each, speaking of Kantar and Burks. On the other hand lets talk about the Lakers. And the title of this post. The title is feed the big fella. Andrew Bynum is the most dominant center in the NBA right now offensively and your only giving him 14 shot attempts. Wow. Kobe shot 3-20 from the field. Andrew shot 12-14. Kobe had a chance to cap a late run by the Lakers but failed to do so missing a pretty solid look under the circumstances the Lakers were put in. The Lakers go down on their home floor for only the 3rd time this season falling to the Jazz 103-99.

Andrew Bynum is finally worth writing about. He has emerged as a top center in the NBA. He has played out of his mind this season and i believe it his success will continue with plenty of reasons supporting my thoughts. Andrew is averaging more than 17 points and 12 rebounds a game on a team where he is the third option and plays with another rebounding machine that stands 7 feet in the starting lineup. Just think about it, Andrew scores 17-20 points a game with a player who is considered and said to be at times a selfish basketball player. He is third in the league in rebounding while having another giant in the paint with him. Andrew has the best offensive game in the NBA as a center. I understand there’s a great center in Orlando who is begging quietly for a trade. But Andrew is more smooth and skilled on the offensive side. Dwight is a monster defensively and is the best defensive center in the league but Andrew has played great defense for the Lakers. Andrew has kept the Lakers as a top seed and a difficult team to beat when he is playing like he has been lately.

Yes he did just do that. Derrick Williams finally showed why he was picked second overall in this years draft. He scored 27 points on 10 shots. He barely missed a shot. He was 9 for 10 from the field, including 4-4 long balls. Who needs Kevin Love when you have Derrick Williams making Kenyon Martin look like an idiot falling left and right just too see another long jump shot go threw the net. Mr. Williams couldn’t miss, either could the timberwolves. At one point, they hit 12 straight shots. But basketball is a team game, therefore you need more than one player too play well in order to get a win except if your the Lakers then all you need is Kobe Bryant but were talking Timberwolves. But they played well as a team! They were very well coached and out played the Clippers. Going into this game, you would think the main matchup would be Love vs. Griffin. Yea right. It was more like Griffin vs. Williams and Beasily. Griffin played a great game, more like a great first quarter while Williams and Beasily combined for 54 points. The Wolves don’t need Rubio or Love to sneak out a win in L.A.

This trade makes some sense both ways but also doesn’t make some sense. The Lakers are interested in Rajon Rondo and would be willing to swing a deal to the much hated Celtics. But would need to give up a lot of talent in return. They would offer Pau Gasol, who the celtics reportedly have interest in. So, both of these players would contribute greatly and fast to their new team if this trade happens. The only problem is that both teams are giving up what they need too. Rajon Rondo fits perfectly with the Celtics, he runs the team filled with old men. Ray Allen and Garnett cant create their own shot therefore Rondo does the work to get them the open look. But he would also fit great in L.A. Lakers have been looking for a quality point guard for a great deal of time. On the other hand, Pau Gasol and Bynum have a great one two punch going for the Lakers but Gasol would be a great fit in Boston. He would start at the Center position because of his versatilely. They would have a great starting four but who would fill the point guard spot if Rondo would to be traded. I dont think Avery Bradley or Keyon Dooling can fill a huge roll that Rondo had.

This is an interesting topic that needs to be addressed. This topic is interesting because lets face it, J.R. when right is an all star in the making. This guy can shoot the lights out, has all the athleticism in the world, and can play defense if he chooses so. J.R. is getting pursued and looked at from all contenders in the West as well as the East. He can return to action in the NBA around All Star weekend. Ill tell you this, there will be a lot of action going on that weekend from the game itself to Dwight Howard sweepstakes to J.R Smith’s return to action. It should be fun. Ive heard form many sources that the Lakers and CLippers are interested in boosting their backcourt off the bench. He would fit well with the Clippers, and would be a nice addition to Kobe as well. I think the Lakers need him more because they need another scorer, period explanation point. If they say they have enough without a guy like J.R. their wrong. Your not going to win with the team you have. It just wont be enough. Kobe has been playing around 40 minutes a game for a team with a 14-10 record is stupid. We all know they’ll make the playoffs but will Kobe be tired out? Question remains unknown and J.R is the answer to that question. He can take a load of Kobe’s back with putting points on the board. J.R. is a proven 20 point scorer if the minutes are their. On the other hand, the Clippers who are full of scorers and great pieces would like help behind Caron Butler at the three spot. Something that the Clippers have that not many teams have is the ability of your star to have 2 points and for your team to win by 26. Chris Paul had 2 points, didn’t shoot much but still had 2 points. Yet the Clippers blow the Wizards out in Washington. The Clippers are balanced on offense. They have so many threats, but it wouldn’t hurt to add one more especially off the bench. The reason why the Clippers need him is because at times their bench blows leads because their lack of offense. You only have one offensive player out their, which is Mo williams but the addition of Kenyon Martin will help as well as if they pursue Smith. If it was Smith’s choice, i have to say he would rather play for the Clippers because the Clippers have pieces that compliment J.R better than other teams. And J.R. is great friends with Chauncey Billups and Kenyon Martin who were teammates with each other two years ago. Like i said, the Clippers compliment J.R. better because the Clippers have something that not many teams have. Which is Chris Paul who is so unselfish and always looking for teammates before himself which is what a guy like J.R. wants. Chris does a lot of work so you can have an open shot. On the other hand, the Lakers don’t have any passing point guards who draw attention, so J.R would have to create his own shot which is difficult to do when you have a good defender on you.
