Wednesdays night matchup between the Boston Celtics and Oklahoma City thunder involved a duel at the point guard position. As we can always expect a big night from OKC’s point guard, we saw a glimpse of Marcus Smarts capability. Smart and the Celtics put up a fight, however they fell just short in attempt to pick up their 31st win on the year. Rookie Smart knocked down 7 three’s however it wasn’t enough to overcome MVP candidate Russell Westbrooks 36 and 10. We all know Marcus Smart has the body frame and the skill of a solid point guard in a point guard orientated league however we really hadn’t him seen him put it all together until tonight which he did against arguably the best point guard in the league Russell Westbrook. The Thunder pick up a vital win as they remain in sole possession of 8th place in the wild wild west. As much as i respect the Pelicans and honestly believe they will end up prevailing to achieve the final playoff spot, i would really love to see the Thunder make it. A series consisting of a possible healthy Thunder vs. the best team in the NBA should be something else. The Thunder look to push the win streak to 2 games as they welcome in the best team in the East; the Atlanta Hawks. Meanwhile the Boston Celtics will continue their surprising season as they host the reigning champs.
