Game 52, Los Angeles Kings Vs. Boston Bruins
The Kings looked to prolong their 4 game winning streak as they battled the Boston Bruins. Kings right winger Dustin Brown opened the scoring for the Kings at 12:06 of the 1st period with a tip in from directly in front of Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas, Kings with the early 1-0 lead. The Bruins attempted to tie the game up, and at 15:16 of the 2nd, Marco Sturm scored on a power play which tied the score at 1. Early in the 3rd, Mark Recchi scored on a one timer, 2-1 Bruins lead. The Kings tied the game up at 4:29 of the 3rd with a blast by Anze Kopitar as Thomas was screened by Michael Handzus. The Kings and Bruins fought hard in overtime but both came up empty handed which led to a shootout. The shootout went 6 rounds before Jarret Stoll ripped a shot over Thomas’ glove, giving the Kings a 3-2 win, as well as an impressive five game winning streak with the last four coming on the road. Quick stopped 29 of 31 Bruins shots.
